Why Should You Attend this Event?

Pearson is a company facing significant challenges. Its share price has declined by over 40% since last year’s AGM, and in January issued its second profits warning in three months, and its fourth under the current chief executive. In response to this crisis the board has announced a restructuring that will result in significant jobs cuts.

However, shareholders should be concerned that this short-term gamble will not address the deeper structural problems in its main market, the US, resulting from the positions it has taken in relation to the education system.

Therefore Pearson shareholders are invited to a meeting organized by the American Federation of Teachers to learn about an important investor initiative to tackle the company’s flawed business strategy.

Speakers will include:

  • Randi Weingarten, President, American Federation of Teachers
  • A large public pension fund and Pearson shareowner
  • A leading academic who has studied Pearson’s strategy
  • A concerned parent
